Our Facility
The Guild is located in the heart of downtown Charlottetown at the corner of Queen and Richmond Streets on the Ancestral and Unceded territory of the Mi’kmaq People.
Opened in 1958 as the provincial headquarters for the Royal Bank at the time, the building was generously donated to the PEI Council for the Arts (predecessor to the PEI Arts Guild) in 1991 thanks to the incredible effort of Hilda Woolnough. The Guild has since undergone extensive renovations to the facility thanks to financial contributions from Innovation PEI, Canadian Heritage, and ACOA, converting it into a Black-Box DIY Arts Space, Incubator, and Arts Hub.
The Guild boasts and intimate 90-seat (150 standing-room-only) Black-Box as well as two gallery spaces supporting Contemporary, Professional, and Emerging visual artists. Both areas are wheelchair accessible, air-conditioned, and licensed. Furthermore, our office space is home important PEI cultural organizations such as Pride PEI, Music PEI, this town is small, and the Fédération Culturelle de l'Île-du-Prince-Édouard.
