Build The Guild
The Guild is in a period of glorious, experimental, messy, challenging and optimistic change.
As the cultural hub and incubator for performing and visual arts in Epekwitk/Prince Edward Island, The Guild plays a pivotal role in fostering independent artists and driving creative development.
We would love you to play a role in ensuring that The Guild continues to help preserve our Island’s heritage, celebrate our contemporary culture and invest in our shared creative future.
Every contribution, whether large or small, plays a crucial role in providing stability for our artists and fortifying the local arts industry for a more vibrant and dynamic future.
In 2024, following a period of significant change, we are galvanized to serve the Island’s arts community, expanding our understanding of who that community is and will be, and stepping up to the extraordinary opportunity of operating a cultural hub in the centre of our capital city.
The Guild is a gift, and we are presented with an opportunity to build it anew with a sense of clarity and optimism.
Our experiments and consultation over the past six months have helped to clarify the partnerships we will seek, and the activities that we will undertake, to guide, fund and activate The Guild. We are in experimentation mode – and we believe that to some extent, we always should be– responding to the changing arts community, meeting our mandate through a variety of approaches and adapting to challenges and opportunities.
Though we of course welcome donations, sponsorships and support, year-round, we are writing to you now, before the end of the financial year, because the P.E.I Arts Guild (The Guild) is designated by the CRA as a registered charity. We comply with the CRA’s requirements and have been issued a charitable registration number.
All contributions make a difference to us, but donations of $20 or more are tax deductible – which may make a difference to you.
We are hopeful that we can count on your donation, allowing The Guild to better meet the needs of the
Island’s incredible creative community.
Your generosity will allow Island artists to thrive in affordable, accessible
studio, office, workshop, rehearsal, exhibition, meeting and performance spaces.
You’ll see expansion of artistic practice and Island arts travelling into the wider world; the development of projects that provoke,
celebrate and sustain the cultural life of our Island and contribute to our common well-being.
You’ll see the continued transformation of a downtown cultural hub that is
exploding with life and art, and the realisation of a vision for true creative community life.
And we, The Guild staff and Board of Directors, will honour your generosity
with continued hard work, modest and deliberate budgeting,
and a cheerful and imaginative approach to delivering on our foundational mandate.
