Jenn Grant is Coming Home

Charlottetown – Islander-turned-Haligonian, Jenn Grant, is coming home to headline her own show at The Guild on Saturday, January 30th with Jason Plumb and the Willing.
She has performed on the Island with Hawksley Workman in the Fall of 2009 and was featured in the very popular MittenTime Revue presented in December but this is her first solo concert on PEI since her CD release of Echoes earlier in the year.
Jenn Grant is one of the most promising young performers on the Halifax music scene. Her agile voice and sharpening sense of contemporary pop-folk songwriting finds a focus on her album Echoes, for which she won 2009 Best Female Artist Recording through Music Nova Scotia.
The most immediately compelling aspect of this record is her voice, which is simultaneously smoky and airy. Her subject matter is carefully considered and dives into the depths and caverns of her heart, resulting in an intimate listen and a very honest-feeling record.
“I think it’s a thing everyone can relate to,” Grant says. “Everyone’s experienced it in some way. I feel like music and your heart are linked. You feel things with your heart. You listen to things with your heart. For me it’s just natural most of the time to write about your feelings about things.”

Tickets are $20 and available at The Guild box office. The show is presented January 30 at 8pm with theatre doors opening at 7:30pm.
