Juno Award Winner David Francy Performs at The Guild
November 09, 2009
Charlottetown – David Francey, three-time Juno Award winner, is playing the Guild on Friday, November 20, at 8:00 pm.
Carpenter-turned-songwriter, David Francey is recognized as one of today’s finest singer-songwriters. In 1999, he released his first CD “Torn Screen Door” and has followed this with a total of 8 CD’s to-date.
His most recent CD "Seaway” is a collaborative creation with Mike Ford that captures the experience of their voyage on the M.V. Algoville, a 750-foot bulk carrier in May, 2005. They spent two weeks sailing from Montreal to Thunder Bay and back along the Saint Lawrence Seaway and in the majestic Great Lakes.
David’s straightforward songs tell honest stories of real people and real places. Poetic perception and a keen eye for the heart of the matter are trademarks of both the man and his music. His songs and stories are a direct connection for audiences seeking depth and meaning in the day-to-day.
Francey had the honour of receiving the prestigious SOCAN Folk Music Award in November, 2008. Other recipients of this award have included Ron Hynes, Oscar Peterson, Ray Griff and Tom Cochrane.
Touring with David is American ballad maker and multi-instrumentalist, Craig Wert.
