Baby Formula Film Debuts at The Guild
August 20, 2009

Charlottetown - A new feature film, The Baby Formula, directed by Canadian filmmaker, Alison Reid, is touring the Maritimes and will have its Charlottetown debut on Tuesday, August 25th at The Guild.

The film finds two adventurous women in love and desperate to have their own biological child.  They take a chance on an experimental, scientific process and develop sperm from their own stem cells.  Pregnant with humour and unexpected twists, their journey tailspins out of control when their families discover there is no father.

The film stars Megan Fahlenbock and Angela Vint.

The Baby Formula is a sequel to “Succubus”, a short film Reid directed, co-wrote and co-produced, a dramedy about Athena and Lilith, a lesbian couple attempting to conceive a baby that is a true biological combination of them both.

When Reid was on the festival circuit with Succubus, she discovered that lead actresses, Angela Vint and Megan Fahlenbock, were both pregnant!

Reid immediately saw an opportunity for a feature length sequel – and so was born The Baby Formula.

Ms. Reid has several other projects in development including, the action/drama series "Hard Knocks" and the black comedy/thriller "Sissiboo".  She is currently stunt coordinating the television series “The Best Years”.

Film director, Alison Reid, will host a question and answer session in the Guild theatre following the screening with a reception to follow thereafter.

Tickets for the debut screening are $8 each and available in advance at The Guild’s box office at the corner of Richmond and Queen or by calling 620-3333. The screening begins at 7:30 on Tuesday, August 25th. Doors open at 7pm.

The presentation is partnered with First Weekend Club and Women in Film and Television – Atlantic with support from Island Media Arts Co-Op for the Charlottetown screening.
