“Art with Heart” is a mosaic of a well-known Island scene by photographer John Sylvester, which was divided into 15 sections with each section rendered by a different Island artist in his or her own particular style. The 15 original pieces of artwork have been reassembled into a stunning mosaic and framed, with the final image measuring 42” x 32”.

 

“This is a unique collaboration that promotes island artists and raises money for two very worthwhile organizations”, says Cate Proctor, Executive Director of The Guild. She adds, “The public’s first glimpse of the mosaic won’t come until it is unveiled during the Art with Heart Gallery Exhibition opening Friday, May 1^st at 5:00 pm at the Gallery @ The Guild.”

 

Joan Sinclair, Director of Development with the Heart & Stroke Foundation of PEI outlined the fundraising element of the initiative. “The first tickets for the artwork will be available on May 1^st and up to September. With each ticket purchase the buyer receives an official miniature print of the artwork appropriate for framing, as well as the opportunity to win the original. The lucky winner of that will be announced in September.”

 

The artists who generously contributed their talents for this unique project are Ina Lee, Henry Purdy, Margaret England, Sandi Komst, Greg Garand, Arlene Rice, Isabel Court, Julia Purcell, Warren Foulkes, Karen Gallant, Joan Creamer, Anne Gallant, Lorraine Vatcher, Iris Ethridge, and Nan Ferrier. The framers of the final piece are Frames & Woodcraft, in North River.

 

Tickets for can be purchased through The Guild’s Box office for $20 each with a limited number available. The Guild’s Box Office hours are Tuesday-Saturday, Noon-5pm, on the corner of Richmond & Queen Street.

 

Proceeds from sales are being split between The Heart & Stroke Foundation of PEI and The Guild.
